ABJURE

ABJURE       /əbˈdʒʊə/   :

To promise or swear to give up a claim, an opinion or belief formally. or to renounce.

Memory key :

See it as A JURY. What will a jury will do before taking up his profession. He promises that he will give up his belief and he will abide by the laws written in the constitution. So every jury was abjured once to partiality and self beliefs. To became a jury you have to abjure.

(BETTER IMAGINE THIS STORY IN MIND )

so abjure means promise to give up.

Example :

In order to marry the peasant she loved, the princess made the decision to abjure her title.

He abjured the chocolate from his fixed diet.
